McKinney Annual Trout Derby, February 22nd

This isn't a Scout thing but it is so cool we want to tell you about it. Imagine if you wore your Scout shirt to it how many might ask you about Scouting... Reel in the fun! This annual fishing event is perfect for those who love to fish - kids and adults alike! Bring your fishing pole and bait to catch a few of the thousands of fish released into the lake. The event will include a casting contest for kids as well as trophies for those that catch the biggest and smallest Trout. All kids that catch a fish will receive a prize. There will also be a hot dog roast for those at the event to enjoy.

It is from 8 am to noon at the Towne Lake Recreation Area at 1405 Wilson Creek Pkwy, McKinney, TX 75069. Kids are free but there is a fee of $3 for those 17 and older No advance registration required. See their calendar link here.

Scouting for Food, Saturday, Feb 29th

Save the date for Scouting for Food on Saturday, February 29th. Bags can be picked up and questions can be asked February 6th starting at 6:45 pm during Roundtable and the meetings before. See routes and get flyers and door card information at lonestardistrict.org/activities/sff

District Crossover, Sunday March 1st, 3 pm

Please set aside Sunday, March 1st at 3 pm for the District Crossover brought to you by the Lone Star District Wicahpi Chapter of the Order of the Arrow. All Webelos 2’s are invited to “Crossover” in this group setting. ALL scouts and scouters are invited to come out and watch for FREE. It is $5 per Webelos to participate and they will each receive a totem made by the Order of the Arrow. Important things to remember are 1) be sure to sign up early so the OA knows how many totems to make and 2) be sure if you have selected a unit, you have notified them as well. Scouts are welcome to participate even if they have not chosen a unit yet. There will be some great photo opps… so bring your cameras!

District Pinewood Derby Championship, Saturday, March 21st

Set aside Saturday, March 21st for the District Pinewood Derby Championship. Bring a friend that's not a Scout. We have some cars they can borrow. It is $5 per Scout.

Council Annual Recognition Banquet, Thur, March 26

The Annual Recognition Banquet is held each year to recognize Eagle Scouts and the volunteers of the Circle Ten Council. The highlight of the evening will be the presentation of the Linus D. Wright 2019 Class of Eagle Scouts and the 2019 Silver Beaver Awards, the highest volunteer recognition presented on the council level. 2019 Eagle who sign up by February 15th are free or $20 after that.

District Camporee, April 3-5

Set aside April 3-5 for the annual Lone Star District Camporee. This is for all troops and crews to come and compete and have fun together at Camp James Ray. Send a youth lead to our planning meetings held at 6:45 before Roundtable these next couple months to help plan. Besides activities and competitions we will have a huge campfire and Order of the Arrow callout. We need you there.

Twilight Camp, June 1-5 2020

Join us for Cub Scout Day Camp or as we like to call it Twilight Camp from June 1st to June 5th here in McKinney at Myer's Park. It runs from 4 to 8:30 pm each day.

National Youth Leadership Training

After your youth leaders have completed Oak Leaf, the next training step is National Youth Leadership Training. NYLT is an intense, 5 1/2 day, outdoor leadership training experience for Troop, Team, Crew and Ship youth leaders. The course goal is to prepare young men and women to become superior leaders in their local units and in the future.

All courses will be at Camp James Ray.
