Essay Contest for Eagle Scouts, December 15, 2018

Eagles you have an opportunity to enter an essay contest for a chance to win $10,000; $6,000; and $4,000.  The Sons of the American Revolution annually hosts a national contest for Eagles, the Arthur M. & Berdena King Eagle Scout Award.  December 15th is the local deadline.  Take a chance, use your writing skills, enhance your knowledge for your Citizenship in the Nation or the American Heritage Merit Badges.

UNIVERSITY OF SCOUTING, January 5, 2019

Save the date - January 5, 2019 at SMU

Join us for a full day of training and fellowship with other Scouters in the council. There will be lots of new classes including classes that address recruiting, selecting units, young women in scouting, and the all new commissioner’s program. As an extra bonus, the council key 3 have agreed to host session one to talk about the state of Circle 10 and what their vision for the upcoming years is. There is also a chance of an appearance by Michael Surbaugh, the National BSA executive!

After your youth leaders have completed Oak Leaf, the next training step is National Youth Leadership Training. NYLT is an intense, 5 1/2 day, outdoor leadership training experience for Troop, Team, Crew and Ship youth leaders. The course goal is to prepare young men and women to become superior leaders in their local units and in the future.

Webelos Adventure Time, Sat., November 3rd

On November 3rd, Troop 406 invites all Webelos dens to our "Webelos Adventure Time".  The Adventures are based on your input from Webelos Outdoor Weekend. The event is located at Stonebridge United Methodist Church from 9AM until noon. There is no fee for this event, just bring a water bottle!

Round Table / Meet The Troops Night, Thur, Nov. 1st

All Troops are invited to set up a table on Thursday, November 1st at 7:30PM.  This will be the Boy Scout side of Roundtable for November.  Webelos and parents are invited to attend to find out about Troops in the Lone Star District.  Packs, help us advertise this event so your boys and their families can make plans to attend!  We look forward to seeing you all then!

Our Cub Scout side of Roundtable will doing NOVA training.  Come learn how to use that portion of the program.

The Order of the Arrow (OA) Chapter Meeting will be having a fun activity as always.  Come and join in.

Looking for Volunteers for the Cub Scout Midway for CTX

The council committee running the Cub Scout Midway for CTX is trying to fill close to 300 time slots (consisting of two hours each), and thus need LOTS and LOTS of volunteers to make this a success!  If you can spare a couple hours at CTX to help it would be appreciated.

One of our own could use you too.  The Space Invader Booth (ping pong ball machine gun shooting gallery) in the Cub Scout Midway is from our district.  If you are and adult and will be there anyway and have a couple hours on Saturday, November 10th at CTX we could use you.  Sign up below.

Registration is open.  All it takes is a $50 deposit to reserve the spot for your unit. This deposit will be applied to your total eXperience fee of $25 per person. 

Campsites will be assigned in proximity to the program area based on the date of registration, so the early bird gets the shortest walk.

Each unit registered in time (before the patches are gone) will receive 2 patches for adults attending CTX2 to wear as they promote the event to their units and districts. All staff that sign up now will also receive this patch, until they run out.
