Early registration means signing up online one week or more before the event and will cost less.

Late registration means signing up online less than one week ahead or at the door and will cost more.

To be a fully trained Boy Scout, Varsity Team, or Venture Crew Leader you will need the following trainings:

Fast Start

The Boy Scout Leader Fast Start and the Venture Leader Fast Start can be taken on line any time at http://olc.scouting.org/.

The Varsity Coach Fast Start, however, cannot be taken at the same place.

Youth Protection

Taken on line any time at http://olc.scouting.org/.  Required once a year for summer camp and every two years in general.

Replaces New Leader Essentials.  Taken on line any time at http://olc.scouting.org/.  This training is for all new Cub Scout, Boy Scout, Varsity, or Venture Leaders.  You only need to take it once.

Boy Scout, Varsity Team, and Venture Crew Leader Position Specific

This training helps you know how to do your position.  The next trainings available are:

* Boy Scout Leader Specific, Saturday, October 9th, 2010 from 8 am to 5 pm by the Lone Star District at the McKinney LDS building, 2801 Eldorado Pkwy, where round table is held; $10 early or $15 late (lunch is included).  Sign up and get more details here.

* Varsity Leader Specific, Saturday, October 9th, 2010 from 8 am to 5 pm by the Lone Star District at the McKinney LDS building, 2801 Eldorado Pkwy, where round table is held; $15 early or $20 late (lunch and the leader guide are included).  Sign up and get more details here.

* Venture Leader Specific, Saturday, October 9th, 2010 from 8 am to noon by the Lone Star District at the McKinney LDS building, 2801 Eldorado Pkwy, where round table is held; $5 early or $8 late.  Sign up and get more details here.

* Boy Scout Leader Specific, Tuesday and Thursday, March 22nd and 24th, 2011 from 6:30 to 10 pm by the Lone Star District at the McKinney LDS building, 2801 Eldorado Pkwy, where round table is held; $10 early or $15 late (lunch is included).  Sign up and get more details here.

* Varsity Leader Specific, Spring 2011.  This training has not been scheduled.  We are thinking of a two evening training.  Please let the training staff know if you are interested in this and when would be best for you.

Committee Training

This training is for members of the troop or team committees.  It is also available on line at http://olc.scouting.org/.  The next local trainings offered are:

* We would be glad to come give the training to your committee at your location.  Please contact the training committee to set this up.

Introduction to Outdoor Leader Skills (IOLS)

This training is required for Scout Masters, Varsity, and Venture leaders and their assistants.  It is suggested for all committee.  It helps get your outdoor skills where they need to be on a real campout with skills training sessions practicing the patrol method all the while.

* IOLS, Tuesday, Nov 2nd, 2010 at 7:30 pm for orientation and then Friday, Nov 5th through Sunday, Nov 7th.  Sunday exceptions allowed.  This is by the Lone Star District; $30 early or $40 late.  The 7:30 pm Tuesday orientation is at the McKinney LDS building, 2801 Eldorado Pkwy, where round table is held.  The camping portion is at Camp James Ray, Pottsboro, TX.  Sign up and get more information here.

* IOLS, Tuesday, Apr 26, 2010 at 7:30 pm for orientation and then Friday, Apr 29th through Sunday, May 1st.  Sunday exceptions allowed.  This is by the Lone Star District; $30 early or $40 late.  The 7:30 pm Tuesday orientation is at the McKinney LDS building, 2801 Eldorado Pkwy, where round table is held.  The camping portion is at Chambersville Tree Farm, 7032 CR 971, Celina, TX.  Sign up and get more information here.

Wilderness First Aid

Required by at least one youth or adult for Philmont and many other High Adventure Camps.  Required for all High Adventure in 2010.  The next courses being offered are:

* No local trainings are being offered by Lone Star District at this time.

* The National Outdoor Leadership School (NOLS) sends instructors to sponsor locations around the country all the time.
